1 Carat weight

The weight of diamond is calculated in carat (CT), 1 carat = 100 points = 0.2g. The value of diamonds increases with the weight of carats. However, even if the weight is the same, the value of the two diamonds will vary greatly depending on the color, clarity and cutting.

2 Color

For most diamonds, color refers to the degree of colorlessness. The lighter the color, the higher the value and price. Some of these differences are difficult to distinguish with the naked eye, but it will directly affect the overall quality and price of diamonds. At present, the main diamond color grading systems in the world are GIA and CIBJ0. According to the color grading established by GIA, it is from "D" (starting from the first letter of Diamond) to "Z". CIBJ0 uses simple terms to describe color levels.


What color should you choose for a diamond?

If the budget is enough, D color is the best. However, D-COLOR diamonds are relatively few, and in fact, there is not much difference above G color distinguished by naked eye. Therefore, considering the cost performance, you can choose from the G color.

3 Clarity

Each diamond will have its own internal characteristics, called "inclusions", and the features on the surface of diamonds are called "surface features". The evaluation of diamond purity is the identification of the number, size, visibility, type, location of these features and the impact on the overall appearance of the diamond. At present, the commonly used cleanliness standards are divided into 6 types, including 11 grades: flawless (FL), immaculate (IF), very very slight inclusion (VVS1 and VVS2), very slight inclusion (VS1 and VS 2), slight inclusion (SI1 and SI2), and inclusion (I1, I2 and I3).


Is diamond clarity important?

A diamond with poor clarity will have multiple inclusions, which will directly affect its light. Because the inclusions limit the refraction and reflection of light, the lower the clarity rating, the more turbid the diamond is.

Purity and color are the same, although the higher the better, but you don't have to focus on FL, IF for daily wear. The price is expensive, compared with VVS and VS, the naked eye cannot see much difference. Then, considering the cost performance, VS and above selection will be a good choice. If lower than VS, it may affect the aesthetics.

4 Cut
